It's been a while... here's what has been happening

I've been busy the past several months and have neglected my bogging! Please forgive me. Since I last wrote , I've been busy promoting Little Red Box. I've also been playing with ConFunkShun and some other local bands. I've done a few really fun shows with ConFunkShun in Las Vegas and The Sleeptrain Pavilion in Concord, CA. The Concord show was preety big and at home. It featured CFS, En Vogue, Toni Tony Tone, Lenny Williams, The E Family(w/Pete & Sheila Escovedo) and MC Hammer. The Vegas show we did was with Brick. They were all so cool and nice, it always humbles me to be around such legendary artists and to have them be so kind. I was also playing with a local group of musicians(Rene Escovedo, Ben Reyes, Steve Laciak, Johnny De La Cruz) that collectively are called "A Gozar" which means "to enjoy" in Spanish. I have so much fun playing with them because they play a great cross section of music. From Johnny Cash to Jay Z to Otmart Liebert to original music.
Now about my own project...I've gotten the live band together and we will be playing our debut show at The Depot at San Francisco State University on Nov 2, 2011. It's a great band and it's sure to be a great show. I'm very excited to finally get it together. I've done a radio interview with DJ Malachi for Luv Luv Radio. The East Bay Express newspaper also did a great review of Little Red Box. This is what they wrote: "D. Edward, Little Red Box
"Oh, that raspy, chalky, sleepy, forlorn, borderline soft-rocky male tenor.
Balladeer D. Edward does it with near-perfect intonation, bouncing off words, squeezing phrases, and bending vowels. At his best, he sounds a lot like John Mayer."
Rachel Swan - East Bay Express." Getting reviews like this affirm that I doing the right thing. On an unfortunate note, my friend and singer, Tamara Green, who sings Homeward Bound with me and her struggle with Breast Cancer was the inspiration of this song, is once again fighting cancer. I HATE CANCER!!! There is a fund set up for her and her family, The Tamara Green Wellness and Caring Fund, to help the financially and I hope that you will donate whatever you can to help. I will also be donating half of the profits of album sales of Little Red Box. So if you buy an album I will give half of everything I make from it. I love Tamara and her family and she's a fighter and inspires me everyday!
Well that's it for now and I know I say this in every blog but I will be updating my blog more often. I PROMISE!!!
All Love to you from
D. Edward
ps: Please share this blog with everyone you know. Thanks!

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure

Well the 4th of July weekend is here and the weather in the San Francisco Bay Area is spectacular. There is no other place in the world with weather like we have here.
I have a duet on Little Red Box called Homeward Bound it features my friend and breast cancer survivor Tamara Green. I was inspired to write it, by her experience dealing with the horrible disease called Cancer. I am truly blessed to have her singing with me on this song!
I've decided to donate a $1 for every CD or full album download sold, between July and September 2011 to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Organization. So please buy your copy of Little Red Box today!
Let's help find a cure for cancer and also have some great music to listen to, while supporting a great cause!
Love and Peace
D. Edward

June going on July

Well June has been pretty busy. The CD was released June 1st and it has been getting rave reviews from everyone that has heard it! It a Pop/Soul release. If you haven't checked it out yet go to theLittleRedBox.com website and take a listen. Buy it, if you like and please tell EVERYONE you know about it.
It is also being carried by Rasputin Music stores throughout Northern California. They have 9 locations check their website for a location near you. They have it listed in the SOUL music category alphabetically in the 'E' section under D.EDWARD. I also think it's important to support brick and mortar music stores. Not that I'm against online stores because it's also available at CD Baby and iTunes, Amazon and most other online retailers.
Little Red Box features guest appearances by musicians who have/do work with Stevie Wonder, Con Funk Shun, Goapele, Martin Luther and Lenny Williams. The Little Red Box concept is Love, plain and simple. Falling in it, finding it, being inspired by it and how it can achieve greatness through it.
I'm currently working on the live band to promote and support the new release!
I hope you will buy a copy or download and I hope you will come out and support the band when we play in your area!

All love!
I'll write again soon please subscribe and comment to this blog!
I look forward to seeing and hearing from you soon.

It's June already!

Let me first start by once again saying sorry it's been so long since my last blog update. I've been working very hard on getting my new CD Little Red Box ready for release. It's all set and will be on sale in a week!
I'm designing a new website theLittleRedBox.com that will be the hub of all information regarding the new release. You'll be able to purchase downloads directly from me or through all the normal channels like iTunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby Amazon etc...
I'll also have one song available as a free download from the Little Red Box site.
I've been getting very good responses so far from folks who have heard the music. You can listen to the music now at on the site. There are also some songs on You Tube
I am so happy with how the new material has come out. I'm working with a publicist and two songs (Truly and Keep Loving You) have been added to DFW iRadio playlist in the Dallas Fort Worth area http://www.dfwiradio.com/
It will soon be on the air in Santa Barbara at the UC Santa Barbara radio station and hopefully KPFA radio in Berkeley. I'm hoping UC Riverside's radio station will pick it up soon too. I'll also be targeting non Clear Channel stations around the country too.
I'll be posting much more often now that everything is done and ready to go. Keep up with the music at the Little Red Box website!
I hope to hear from YOU and you'll definitely be hearing from me very soon!

It's amazing how much time it takes to produce a CD

It's been a while since I last blogged about what's been happening. The process of writing, producing and recording a CD is long and labor intensive. I have loved every minute of it. I wanted to take my time this time around to produce something that would be worth the wait and work. I think I have achieved that! I love it and hopefully you will too. The Little Red Box CD is finally in the production stage and will be available for purchase in the next few weeks.
My complete focus has been the new CD. Although I have been doing some studio work for others as well. I have been recording percussion tracks with a group called "R00K" and also recording at Studio Trilogy in San Francisco with an R&B artist named Chase with Grammy nominated producer pc muñoz. I've also got an endorsement deal with 2 companies called Kickport and EarFliters.net. Kickport just unveiled their latest product called the Cajonport. I'm enjoying working with it in my cajon, (which is a percussion instrument). Google it to see what a cajon looks like.
Beside, the studio work, I had been mixing the tracks for my CD daily. It seems that everyday I would hear things differently and would then mix the tracks over. This process went on for about 2 months! Seriously everyday for 2 months...
I finally got them to the point where I was absolutely happy with the mixes and then I had them Mastered at Studio D Recording in Sausalito CA. I'm excited that I they mastered it for me and now I can say that my CD was mastered at the same studio that acts like Earth Wind and Fire, Aretha Franklin, Faith No More, members of the Doors, and Santana have worked at. They make magic happen!
The artwork has been finalized and all the paperwork has been completed. Now it's time to get this baby out to the public.
I've uploaded tracks to my reverbnation.com page for folks to listen and purchase before the official release date. You can go to http://www.reverbnation.com/dechung to check them out for yourself. It's a free site.
You can also go to my facebook site and listen. http://facebook.com/chungoboogie

I promise it won't be as long for another blog. Please leave a comment and join me on Facebook and Reverb Nation. I would love to hear from you!
All Love

Busy in a good way!

So I went to the NAMM Show this past weekend and it was an awesome experience! Saw so many music friends and met even more. For those of you not in the music biz NAMM is the Nat'l Association of Music Merchandisers. It's where the music manufacturers show off there new products and musician like me look for endorsements and the latest new products. I was there Friday and Saturday and am still recovering from the endless walk of the trade show floor.
I'm busy reworking some songs for the new CD and writing some new material. I'm also working with a Country singer/songwriter, writing some material for a documentary about the top show horse in the USA named Blondie.
I've decided to sing more on the new CD and that's why I've been reworking some of the songs and I want to write one more ballad.
Last night(Sunday), I went to a birthday party for my friend Amy, who is also a great keyboard player(She's on the new CD). We had an impromptu jam session with all the musicians and it was a blast! I played a pie tin with a fork and people seemed relatively impressed with the fact that I was playing it. Funny :)
As a percussionist, I look at anything I can bang on and makes a noise, as an instrument!
I'm headed back into the studio now to working the new song.
I'll post another blog soon!
