I apologize for not showing my blog enough attention. So where to start... it's been so long!
Last June 2013 I started promoting my song Truly to Smooth Jazz/ AC radio finally... it was way late but better late than never!
So far I've promoted as singles "Truly" and "There She Goes" and it has been fairly successful! They've been making way onto radio stations across the USA and Canada. My song "Love's Eternal" was picked up by V103 in Chicago for their Steppers Show and that was a pretty big deal for me, considering Chicago is the #2 radio market in America and V103 is the #1 station in Chicago!
We are going to start promoting my next 2 singles "Keep Loving You" and "The Passage" in the next two weeks. I hope you'll hear them on a radio station near you over the next 8 weeks!

This week I just got home from a week in Los Angeles for the Grammys. It was a magical time and a few of my friends won! One of my best friends Laura Sullivan won for Best New Age album as well as my friends the Pacific Mambo Orchestra (Best Tropical album), Brent Fischer (Best Instrumental Composition) and Jennifer Gasoi (Best Children's Album).
I plan on being in their very select group soon!

I also busy making a new record for 2014! So I'll keep you posted as things get closer to release!

I'm still working as a percussionist with ConFunkShun and they too will be releasing a new record for the first time in many decades. So be on the look out for that as well.

I'll up date you more soon!

All Love!

This year so far has been really productive for me and my music. At the beginning of the year, I had my mind set to release a new album this year but then in March I, finally, released a music video for my song "Truly".

It's been pretty well received by those that have seen it.

Thanks in part to this video release, there has been new found interest in my Little Red Box album. Available here http://theLittleRedBox.com

So as of right this minute, I have decided to delay a new album and continue to promote Little Red Box. The good thing this is, I have been working on new music for about a year and a half. So it's pretty much ready to go!

It's been too too long since I last posted to my blog but I hope you have found me in other places in the webosphere!

I've been working on new material, for over a year, to follow up my Little Red Box release and also trying to get LRB out there for everyone to hear. I had been working to produce a video, since last spring, for my song Truly, but due to a not so reliable film maker, that project seemed like it would never happen. Thanks to my very good friend Pierre Parker, (film maker and drummer for Lenny Williams), I finally found a film maker that could make this happen with me. His name is Will Yick. We released the video on March 8, 2013 and it's well received.
So long story short, I was ready to let LRB go and release a new album, when the new Truly video breathed new life into the project.

As you may, or may not know, I also perform with the legendary R&B group ConFunkShun. After seeing the Truly Video, their road manager, Rickey Richardo told me "You know the music on Little Red Box is classic music and doesn't have a shelf life" meaning continue focusing on promoting LRB instead of pushing to release something new right now. Him saying that and all the other positive responses I have received about the video, it made me rethink the new release date.

So I've decided to release a few more videos from LRB over the next few months and am currently promoting Truly as a single to Smooth A/C (Jazz) radio. The campaign began today May 6 and it's been added to the rotation of 2 stations, so far. KUNV in Las Vegas, NV and WEIB in Springfield, MA!
So please listen to your local Smooth Jazz/AC radio station and request it! Call them and tell them you love it and to play it more!!! :-)
I am INDIE and need my folks support!
Please forgive me. Since I last wrote , I've been busy promoting Little Red Box. I've also been playing with ConFunkShun and some other local bands. I've done a few really fun shows with ConFunkShun in Las Vegas and The Sleeptrain Pavilion in Concord, CA. The Concord show was preety big and at home. It featured CFS, En Vogue, Toni Tony Tone, Lenny Williams, The E Family(w/Pete & Sheila Escovedo) and MC Hammer. The Vegas show we did was with Brick. They were all so cool and nice, it always humbles me to be around such legendary artists and to have them be so kind. I was also playing with a local group of musicians(Rene Escovedo, Ben Reyes, Steve Laciak, Johnny De La Cruz) that collectively are called "A Gozar" which means "to enjoy" in Spanish. I have so much fun playing with them because they play a great cross section of music. From Johnny Cash to Jay Z to Otmart Liebert to original music.
Now about my own project...I've gotten the live band together and we will be playing our debut show at The Depot at San Francisco State University on Nov 2, 2011. It's a great band and it's sure to be a great show. I'm very excited to finally get it together. I've done a radio interview with DJ Malachi for Luv Luv Radio. The East Bay Express newspaper also did a great review of Little Red Box. This is what they wrote: "D. Edward, Little Red Box
"Oh, that raspy, chalky, sleepy, forlorn, borderline soft-rocky male tenor.
Balladeer D. Edward does it with near-perfect intonation, bouncing off words, squeezing phrases, and bending vowels. At his best, he sounds a lot like John Mayer."
Rachel Swan - East Bay Express." Getting reviews like this affirm that I doing the right thing. On an unfortunate note, my friend and singer, Tamara Green, who sings Homeward Bound with me and her struggle with Breast Cancer was the inspiration of this song, is once again fighting cancer. I HATE CANCER!!! There is a fund set up for her and her family, The Tamara Green Wellness and Caring Fund, to help the financially and I hope that you will donate whatever you can to help. I will also be donating half of the profits of album sales of Little Red Box. So if you buy an album I will give half of everything I make from it. I love Tamara and her family and she's a fighter and inspires me everyday!
Well that's it for now and I know I say this in every blog but I will be updating my blog more often. I PROMISE!!!
All Love to you from
D. Edward
I have a duet on Little Red Box called Homeward Bound it features my friend and breast cancer survivor Tamara Green. I was inspired to write it, by her experience dealing with the horrible disease called Cancer. I am truly blessed to have her singing with me on this song!
I've decided to donate a $1 for every CD or full album download sold, between July and September 2011 to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Organization. So please buy your copy of Little Red Box today!
Let's help find a cure for cancer and also have some great music to listen to, while supporting a great cause!
Love and Peace
The CD was released June 1st and it has been getting rave reviews from everyone that has heard it! It a Pop/Soul release. If you haven't checked it out yet go to theLittleRedBox.com website and take a listen. Buy it, if you like and please tell EVERYONE you know about it.
It is also being carried by Rasputin Music stores throughout Northern California. They have 9 locations check their website for a location near you. They have it listed in the SOUL music category alphabetically in the 'E' section under D.EDWARD. I also think it's important to support brick and mortar music stores. Not that I'm against online stores because it's also available at CD Baby and iTunes, Amazon and most other online retailers.
Little Red Box features guest appearances by musicians who have/do work with Stevie Wonder, Con Funk Shun, Goapele, Martin Luther and Lenny Williams. The Little Red Box concept is Love, plain and simple. Falling in it, finding it, being inspired by it and how it can achieve greatness through it.
I'm currently working on the live band to promote and support the new release!
I hope you will buy a copy or download and I hope you will come out and support the band when we play in your area!

All love!
Edwardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07250773060769978046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749597576680143728.post-61270505907405667562011-06-01T00:21:00.000-07:002011-06-01T00:24:55.493-07:00It's June already!Let me first start by once again saying sorry it's been so long since my last blog update. I've been working very hard on getting my new CD Little Red Box ready for release. It's all set and will be on sale in a week!
I'm designing a new website theLittleRedBox.com that will be the hub of all information regarding the new release. You'll be able to purchase downloads directly from me or through all the normal channels like iTunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby Amazon etc...
I'll also have one song available as a free download from the Little Red Box site.
I've been getting very good responses so far from folks who have heard the music. You can listen to the music now at on the site. There are also some songs on You Tube
I am so happy with how the new material has come out. I'm working with a publicist and two songs (Truly and Keep Loving You) have been added to DFW iRadio playlist in the Dallas Fort Worth area http://www.dfwiradio.com/
It will soon be on the air in Santa Barbara at the UC Santa Barbara radio station and hopefully KPFA radio in Berkeley. I'm hoping UC Riverside's radio station will pick it up soon too. I'll also be targeting non Clear Channel stations around the country too.
I'll be posting much more often now that everything is done and ready to go. Keep up with the music at the Little Red Box website!
I hope to hear from YOU and you'll definitely be hearing from me very soon!D. Edwardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07250773060769978046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749597576680143728.post-21114575041771337482011-04-28T00:42:00.000-07:002011-04-28T00:42:25.755-07:00It's amazing how much time it takes to produce a CDIt's been a while since I last blogged about what's been happening. The process of writing, producing and recording a CD is long and labor intensive. I have loved every minute of it. I wanted to take my time this time around to produce something that would be worth the wait and work. I think I have achieved that! I love it and hopefully you will too. The Little Red Box CD is finally in the production stage and will be available for purchase in the next few weeks.
My complete focus has been the new CD. Although I have been doing some studio work for others as well. I have been recording percussion tracks with a group called "R00K" and also recording at Studio Trilogy in San Francisco with an R&B artist named Chase with Grammy nominated producer pc muñoz. I've also got an endorsement deal with 2 companies called Kickport and EarFliters.net. Kickport just unveiled their latest product called the Cajonport. I'm enjoying working with it in my cajon, (which is a percussion instrument). Google it to see what a cajon looks like.
Beside, the studio work, I had been mixing the tracks for my CD daily. It seems that everyday I would hear things differently and would then mix the tracks over. This process went on for about 2 months! Seriously everyday for 2 months...
I finally got them to the point where I was absolutely happy with the mixes and then I had them Mastered at Studio D Recording in Sausalito CA. I'm excited that I they mastered it for me and now I can say that my CD was mastered at the same studio that acts like Earth Wind and Fire, Aretha Franklin, Faith No More, members of the Doors, and Santana have worked at. They make magic happen!
The artwork has been finalized and all the paperwork has been completed. Now it's time to get this baby out to the public.
I've uploaded tracks to my reverbnation.com page for folks to listen and purchase before the official release date. You can go to http://www.reverbnation.com/dechung to check them out for yourself. It's a free site.
You can also go to my facebook site and listen. http://facebook.com/chungoboogie

I promise it won't be as long for another blog. Please leave a comment and join me on Facebook and Reverb Nation. I would love to hear from you!
All LoveD. Edwardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07250773060769978046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749597576680143728.post-21269312485810977312011-01-17T20:58:00.000-08:002011-01-17T20:58:38.078-08:00Busy in a good way!So I went to the NAMM Show this past weekend and it was an awesome experience! Saw so many music friends and met even more. For those of you not in the music biz NAMM is the Nat'l Association of Music Merchandisers. It's where the music manufacturers show off there new products and musician like me look for endorsements and the latest new products. I was there Friday and Saturday and am still recovering from the endless walk of the trade show floor.
I'm busy reworking some songs for the new CD and writing some new material. I'm also working with a Country singer/songwriter, writing some material for a documentary about the top show horse in the USA named Blondie.
I've decided to sing more on the new CD and that's why I've been reworking some of the songs and I want to write one more ballad.
Last night(Sunday), I went to a birthday party for my friend Amy, who is also a great keyboard player(She's on the new CD). We had an impromptu jam session with all the musicians and it was a blast! I played a pie tin with a fork and people seemed relatively impressed with the fact that I was playing it. Funny :)
As a percussionist, I look at anything I can bang on and makes a noise, as an instrument!
I'm headed back into the studio now to working the new song.
I'll post another blog soon!D. Here is a sample song on YouTubeD. Edwardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07250773060769978046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749597576680143728.post-37967471320578988172010-12-13T22:09:00.000-08:002010-12-18T02:54:11.235-08:00News about my soon to be released CDSo I thought I would update you on my latest CD project...
I'm working on my 3rd solo CD for release early next year. It's going to be a bit different in terms of content and style than my last two. The last two were classified as jazz/smooth jazz/R&B (although, I hate having to classify my music). The 1st CD "The DC Initiative" featured guest vocalist on all of the vocal songs and half were instrumental songs. My 2nd CD, Clifton at Desmond", was mainly instrumental, with 2 vocal songs and me singing one of them.

This time out I'm singing most of the songs with a few guest vocalist on the others and it's going to be mainly vocal songs that I have written.
I haven't titled it yet. I'll still have a few guest vocalists and musicians but it's going to be classified as "Alternative/Soul/Jazz" that's the best guess as to how to categorize it. There will probably be only 3 instrumental Jazz/Latin tunes and the rest will be vocal songs, mainly about love. Love is the theme of the new release.
I will be singing more than ever on this one and playing most of the instruments(as usual). As of today, the guest vocalists & players are Victoria Theodore(from Stevie Wonder's band) & Amy Nix on Keys, Paul Hunt on Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Keni Williams & Brian Abbott on Bass, Joye Carter, J Christopher & Tamara Green on Lead Vocals.
I've had a great time creating this work in progress labor of love.
I am planning on a few more guest artists before this thing is over and will update you as things progress. So far I have 15 songs but haven't yet decided if all or which ones will make the cut. Stay tuned. That's it for now...
I played in Japan with legendary Funk/R&B group Con Funk Shun at the Cotton Club in Tokyo. We sold out all the shows and then followed Japan with Las Vegas the following week. Well it was actually North Las Vegas at Club Tequila at the Rancho Mirage Casino. Again the shows was sold out and it was so much fun! After the those shows we did a show with Midnight Star in Stockton CA. Another great show! In between the Con Funk Shun shows I played a few shows with an amazing vocalist Omega Rae Brooks. She is so awesome and the band is great! I also played a Halloween gig with a local cover band called Xecutive Sweet and Steamer's Grillhouse in Los Gatos CA. We've played at Steamer's for Halloween for the past 5 or 6 years. It is one of my most favorite shows I do each year.
I am currently working on my new CD release. Currently in the studio writing and recording. I will be available early 2011. I taking a slightly different approach than my previous 2 releases which are still available on iTunes and CDbaby.com
